For a more thorough oral examination, dental x-rays are taken to check for cavities under teeth surfaces, for tooth infections or existing prosthetic leakages. Dental x-rays are a good diagnostic tools in identifying hidden cavities, checking bone condition as well as any infection in teeth.
There are basically 3 types of x-rays taken:
- Panoramic x-rays : large overview of both upper and lower jaw
- Cephlometric x-rays : side profile of jaw alignment and bite
- Percipal x-rays : small x-rays films taken in looking at specific teeth area only
Digital Panoramic and Ceplometric Dental X-ray Machines
BIDC uses the latest Promax panoramic and cephlometirc digital x-ray from Planmeca. The Promax digital x-ray gives superior image quality, ease of operation
and wide range of exposure possibilities. The advantages of digtal x-rays are:
- Digital X-ray imaging is quick and timely as images appears immediately on screen for diagnoses
- There is no need for film based processing eliminating external image processing factors and the need for re-takes
- Digital x-rays can be enhanced by imaging software and used with computer simulation programmes.
- Digital x-rays allows efficient image communications that may be emailed or sent off for referrals. Digital x-ray images copies
are of original quality.
Film Panoramic and Ceplometric Dental X-ray Machines
BIDC also utlizes the Orthoralix 920 by Gendex, a film-based panoramic and ceplometric dental x-ray machines. Innovative high frequency
DC generators from the Gendex x-ray machine optimizes radiation output resulting in
low patient dose. Small narrow and focus beam techniques
results in excellent visualization of antomic structure from the x-ray.
Intra-oral Small Dental Xrays Machines
BIDC has several intra-oral xray machines from BlueX, Dabi Atlante and Gendex
available. Intraoral xray machines provide
simple and fast pericipal slide x-rays. Dentists are able to observe the percipal x-rays for proper diagnoses and treatment planning.
Other commonly done treatments in general dentistry related to x-rays include:
- Dental Checkup
- Dental Cleaning, Dental Scaling and Dental Polishing
- Dental Fillings
- Airflow
